Our Mission

‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’

Matthew 25: 40 (part of) NRSV

‘E moni, ou te fai atu ia te outou, auā na faia e outou i le tasi o e aupito itiiti o o’u uso nei, o a’u lea na outou faia i ai.’

Mataio 25:40 (vaega)

Our mission at Soul Talk Samoa (“STS”) Trust is to journey alongside our clients, in addressing specific personal and social issues affecting the lives of individuals, couples, and families.

There are three primary issues that STS addresses, as summarised by the acronym GPS:

  1. Gender equality including the empowerment of women and girls;
  2. Parenting challenges for individuals, families, and groups, using the concept of ‘A Changing Samoan self’ to understand and to act;
  3. Suicide intervention in saving lives through addressing personal and social issues.

    An additional fourth primary issue that STS addresses is in the acronym DRCCR:
  4. Disaster Resilience Climate Change Response.

The three sequential stages of our work are to Engage, Explore, and Empower our clients through our services of pastoral counselling and social services.

In the work of STS, appropriate intervention care plans towards healing and recovery can be developed for our clients from different backgrounds.

The pastoral counselling work and social services that STS undertakes are aimed to meet the expectations of confidentiality, safety, and taking a non-judgmental approach.
